About Engineering and Workers with Vision Loss
Engineering is the process of inventing, designing, building, and systematizing. If you look around you will see that much of the world and the way we experience it is the result of one or more engineering processes. Roads, dams, bridges, cars, artificial limbs, sensors, spacecraft, buildings, tunnels, paint, kitchen appliances—nearly every man-made substance or object on Earth at one point or another had an engineer involved in its design, creation, manufacture, or distribution. An education in this field is based on a strong foundation in math and science, and different courses emphasize how to apply this knowledge to the many different fields of engineering.
Question: What is it about engineering that attracts you? Use your imagination to think about how you could modify tools or tasks that might otherwise require sight.
