About Careers in Mental Health, Psychology & Therapy and Those with Vision Loss
Are you thinking about becoming a psychologist or a therapist? These two professions have a number of similarities and differences. In the end, though, both are after the same thing: helping people improve their lives. While many types of psychologists are trained to study human behavior and mental processes, diagnose a mental disorder or problem, and determine what’s best for the patient’s care, therapists are trained and licensed to deliver that care to people struggling with mental health or life issues through a variety of treatments and rehabilitation techniques.
Questions: Did you notice the amount of time it took for these people to reach their goal of becoming a counselor? Are you willing to do the same? Have you thought about where you want to work: hospital, clinic, laboratory, private practice? Is there any particular type of client or problem you are most interested in?
